Have switched what i'm buying/consigning due to the end of the year Christmas rush. Will open up consignments again sometime next month. In the meantime, I've switched to buying all year baseball cards and can tabs.

Don't mind at all - after I get enough tabs together I'll be turning them in so I can take the wife back to Disney. I'm sitting at something like 3500 tabs and the goal is 60,000,000(which will yield roughly $15,000). Many will see it as foolish but I don't see it that way. If I reach my goal, I reach my goal. If not, I don't.

something like that - 20 roughly yield a penny at a weight of 0.0104/ea but that's just the regular tabs that have the holes and not counting the oversized tabs or the full tabs that are found on budweiser and monster cans. That count of 3500 is made up of the regular tabs, full tabs, and oversized aluminum tabs. When it comes down to value, the lot's worth $1.45 currently based on google sheets rounding the wight of 58.18oz and rate of 0.025 per ounce. The steel tabs are worth less but i'm not after them for obvious reasons.

Mike, I was thinking about that and then I was number crunching, and a Medium flat rate box is 11-7/8" x 3-3/8" x 13-5/8" which gives 439 sq in. The rough size of a regular tab is roughly 0.005 sq in, so you'd be able to roughly fit 87,800 tabs. I say roughly because I'd need a digital ruler to be ultra precise, full tabs are smaller then regular tabs, and oversized tabs are obviously bigger. Of course using the same methods(and using the regular tab) you'd be able to fit 15,066 tabs into a small flat rate box, and 158,400 tabs into a large flat rate box.

Hope the wife doesn't kill you before you can cash them in. I Imagine 60 million tabs will take a up some space.

lol, they hide away in my hole in the wall of an office. No one but me goes in there as there's enough space by the door to stand and that's it. Office holds all my electronics/pc stuff, and a bunch of other stuff we brought back from TN when we had to make room for the Christmas tree. My wife's philosophe is as long as it's contained and out of the way, she doesn't care because she doesn't have to look at it.

I can fit 1 lb. 9 oz. or so in a small flat rate box. 2643 - 3347 of them depending on how you shake the box to fit them in!

I wasn't absolutely sure as I don't have one in front of me and the USPS store's hating on me at the moment so I can't go order them, but that's about what I originally thought because there's a guy out west that started collecting tabs for another guy and the first guy backed out so he's stuck with something like 1.2 million tabs and he said he can get about 10,000 into a medium flat rate box as he packs em in gallon bags of 1,000. I did offer him at one time to take them off his hands for just shipping but wasn't interested. I check in on him every now and then to see what his counts are.

Glad to see your doing something Productive but the math just does not work out........I can get more from the ScrapYard for cans and not have to ship the tabs or bother with pulling them off.........At .30/LB it would take over 30 POUNDS to Break even on a Medium Flat Rate Box......Sorry but I won't be saving these after doing the math (Yes I do save items for Forum members as long as it easily covers shipping)

I appreciate the kind words, I really do and yes, at .30/lb a $13 medium flat rate box up to 75lbs doesn't seem justified however, clean aluminum up here is currently going for 37-1/2 cents per pound(I just called over to Upstate to ask), the price is justified based on what the market is. In light of that, I don't see the harm in taking less then a minute to break(no snip as their no good that way) a tab off a can of soda or a few cans of bud or some energy sodas if you drink those, and stock-piking them somewhere so they can be sent when you do have enough. I can though guarantee that if the market price goes lower(which it might), my buy price won't(unless aluminum bottoms out like steel has) and that if the market price goes up, so will my buy price to roll with the market.

That's the guy I was talking about that I check in on every now and then to see what his can tab counts are at and that if anyone wants to buy what he has, he's willing to sell 10,000 for $55 plus shipping.

Happy 2016 everyone, just updated some things. I received a pick punch for christmas so I've added printed cardboard in either 0.1 or 0.8mm thickness' and non-working cd/dvd/games to the buy list. Their currently on the free list but will be moved over to the pay list once I can get some pick packs sold first. Consignments will open in about a week depending on how ebay is.

Hello everyone decided to go full upcycle(out of scope of the forum?) by updating what i'm buying and what i'm selling. I'm still taking on consignments and that will open Feb 1st. The fee for that will still be 25%.
