    is this solid brass?

    Attachment 26

Picked up a couple of table lamps from a dumpster. The pieces in the picture are all pretty heavy. Magnet test was negative (I used a very strong magnet). So are these solid brass? Could it be some type of stainless steel?

    Thanks

Have you tried scraping the surface?
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

I tried scratching a piece with a flat screwdriver. Both the shiny outside and the dull inside of one of the pieces scratched easily. What does this mean?

If it's yellowish throughout, then it's probably solid brass and not just brass-plated.

I get alot of plated faucets and stuff. I hit them once or twice with the old sawall to check them. If also saves time if you get a new guy at the yard.
