I Seperated my metals today and they still payed the tin rate for steel???

I just started scraping on my vacation about a week ago, and i like it so much i'm thinking about working part-time so i can do it more. However, i was told to separate my metals and i did that today but they wouldn't let my steel be considered steel because it wasn't an inch think. I'm i missing something here who gets inch thick steel. I work around Las Vegas if that helps at all. thanks

Never heard of anything having to be an inch. Here's some generally common guidelines I'd written up a while back:

I get paid the same rate for iron, steel, tin, and mixed, no matter the size.

On the contrary, I will never work for another person ever again. I like being the boss now (of myself, of course!).
