Need some advice on a surplus auction!

I have been watching a surplus auction that is in my area, and I have a price in my head. But I have never bought e-waste. I usually get it for free. So was wondering if any of you auction pros could help me out. I'm less than 2 hours from this location. I have dowload the Excel list that was on the site, added a column and put potential values on most of the items. I just don't want to get too excited and over pay.

    Thanks!

I agree I never pay more than what I can get in scrap that way if I can't sell the crap I can always scrap it

OK thanks. I agree I didn't see 200.00 in scrap value either, but resale I seen some return. But good advice mike. I wasn't going to pay more than 240.00, so I may leave it alone.

It really depends on how good you are at ebay and what you are willing to do to get a sale. Research, test, repair all equipment will get you double on ebay then if you just listed it as is.

That fargo printer is great if it works. Heck, I could sell it for $100 not working. But you would have to go out and buy a power pack and some ID cards to test it... then locate and download a card printing program and drivers. Hopefully it has some printing ribbon left in it. It could bring $$hundreds$$ or more.

The cisco equipment can go for around $50 (or more) each, but I like to plug then into the serial port of my computer and bring up hyperterminal and watch them boot... I will then get into the programming and reset these to factory defaults.... then post the boot info on the listing... gotta make or buy a serial connect cable.

That pda is a $50-60 item if it works....

Printers can be sold locally if they work for a few bucks

Monitors, flat screens, if they work can be sold for $40 locally.

It would always be best if you could take a look at the stuff before you buy it...

wdaddy your prices were almost dead on what I had valued them at. Yes I was planning on everything you said. I do have the means to test everything, plus extra HD. IDE and SATA drives.

as in ebay, the last minutes get the most action ( if there are active participants present), but it differs in if a bid is placed the last second, they don't win, the auction then runs another 5 minutes. i wouldn't mess with it until the last 5 minutes, then put your bid, 5 or 6 minutes before, so as not to extend the auction
