Cool Pretty decent for a 15 year old

Well today Idid fairly well, I got a hot water heater along with an electric range, and some aluminum gutters along with a bunch of solid copper wire. I stripped all the wires, and the ones on the range were not worth it because there was some kind of tough couating on it that would have taken forever to strip, besides I think the insulation will help me out, I beat the snot out of both things with a sledge and grabbed the copper fittings on the top. So What happened was I went out on my bike and found the lighter scraps like the gutters and wires and hid them then found the large items by an apartment, asked the maintenence worker what he was doing with em and he said i could have them. So i gave my dad a ring and he drove the truck over and we leaded that and threw the light stuff in on the way home, I have some aluminum and copper and about 100 pounds of steel in my shed and I think I will make a trip to the scrap yard thursday and see what my haul is worth.

    The fittings might be brass.

Pull the heating elements from the range and heater. They're supposedly worth something. I haven't scrapped any yet. Have a pile of 'em going though.

Sounds like a good haul for just starting out.

Alright well I sold it all today, go 80 bucks, 40 for the light iron 11 for my #1 copper 13 for my junk wire and 4 bucks for the brass of the hot water heater, and 13 for aluminum. I just went out with my dad and we found all kinds of scrap because in this one area it trash day tomorrow, so we have about a 1/3 to a 1/2 a tuckload right now, I seen allot of metal by this shop but I didnt want to get shot for it or something so im gonna go over tomorrow and ask the company. So I may sell this stuff tomorrow and let you know how I do.

Asking the shop is by far the best way to handle it- good job thinking that through! A lot of (idiots) would just grab it.... you never know but maybe it wasn't scrap to the company and they were gonna use it (not uncommon for raw material to get stolen here from shops, or from their scrap hopper that gets picked up by the scrap yard) and that is STEALING. Some places have cameras. Not worth the risk it doesn't cost anything or hurt to ask and if they say "No" then you didn't risk getting in trouble. If they say yes then you can feel good knowing you went about it the right way, and they will be a lot more willing to trust you.
