    3 days a week

I scrap Wed, Fri, and Sun. I open my welding shop all other days except Sat. On my way to work Mon and Thurs, I haul a load across the scale. Today, a scrapping day, I was just down the road from my house cleaning out a neighbors yard and what does he give me? A 40 year old, 230 amp, craftsman stick welder. I have been meaning to get a dedicated buzz box. This one appears to have less than 10hrs use.

Tomorrow it goes with me to the shop. I am not going to complain if I get swamped and don't get to clean it up and test it, but I doubt I will get any sleep this weekend if that happens.

This guy's yard is a cornucopia of junk. He has been gathering it with his wife for 20 years. They're not as bad as the hoarders on A&E, but they are on the edge. Now that he is 60, he wants it all gone. There's even a '46 Plymouth. I just need to keep my head about myself and not keep a pile of this for myself. It's a job and I already have projects in the works. No need adding to the cue.

It lives!!! Pulled off one of the side covers, blew it out with shop air, and plugged it in. Smooth starting, clean running, zero complaints. Like would ever have a reason to do so. If it ever does break down, the transformer is wound with 8 ga solid copper. It may look dirty inside, but that is some pretty dirt.

Hauled off 4 tons of steel from this place and 2 non ferris loads so far. Have cashed in about $1100 to this point and I am only half done. This next week I am not even opening the weld shop one day. I plan on draining this yard before leaving on a cruise next Friday. Mamma wants spendin' money for Montego Bay. Me? I just don't want to answer the phone for a week. I've heard of these things called "a day off". I just thought they were urban myths. Now I get 11 in a row total. Where's the engine room dammit!!!

Oh my goodness! Made me think there's probably plenty more like this that gets hauled off to landfills by A&E every show. But at least you're doing your part to rescue what you can…so glad you scored. Make the most of each and every piece you find. Can you post any pics of the yard, or would that be offensive to the owners, or just some of your hauls? Again, congrats!

It's the little things like time stamps that just crack me up.
