friend brought me a 36 in tv. broke it down yesterday, found a degaussing cable doubble wound about 3/8 in by 12 ft. wow yureeka got it stripped, the fricking thing was alu. first one I have ever seen.

I know what you mean Dude. I have cut open compressors to find aluminum wire. I found that the model number often indicates a lot.
I was wondering do you still have any of that tv left? If so would you post the model number, if it's not to much trouble.
Maybe we can see inside the unit from the numbers, saving wasted effort and such in the future.
