Just curious, how did you manage to unload them? I've had to throw away twice that in the last week. Nobody here wants em anymore.

A guy had an ad posted on craigslist that he bought unwanted garage sell items and he responded and was prompt with pickup that evening
That's where I would start if you are willing to hold them for a little while a buyer will pop up...I have had good luck selling things on craigslist

Hmph, see that's the problem though. I've never been much of a salesman. Now don't get me wrong. I'm a pretty outgoing kind of man and I can talk chit with the best of em all day long. I know a lot of the members on here sell on c/l and ebay, but other than selling to the scrap yard or the occasional used car it just aint my thing.

Hopefully they were all commons. I sell uncommon tapes on amazon... i average $10 each with many going for $30 and a few have even brought $100 each... make sure to check before tossing these to the side.

Same with me. Scrap yard is an easy kill. eBay steals your headshot but you end up getting a win from the team. Wow what a sh*tty post on my part. There is no killing in scrapping, hopefully

If I'm not mistaken the old "white" cover Disney should be the first gen. of them and seem to be worth more.

My sideline business is about 40% amazon, 40% Ebay, and the rest scrap computers. I have been selling seriously on amazon for many years now.

New Disney tapes are worthless. EVERYONE has a copy of Beauty and the Beast. Then it was released on DVD and again on Blu-Ray.

Older Disney are hit and miss. VHS tapes are hit and miss. I would say out of 100 tapes I scan I will find 2-4 worth anything. I don't ever guess when I buy things to resell. I cheat with technology. A smart phone is the minimum you would need when scouting for merchandise.

Some of my guidelines for VHS - If you have ever heard of it, it's probably worthless. If it was ever on DVD, it's absolutely worthless. Odd ball titles have the best chance of selling. Horror movies are good. Zombie Scrappers From Hell. That's a good title. I would research that one.

ShotGun buying is a bad idea. If you buy 100 tapes at $1 each and sell 4 at $10 each you will loose money. If you find 10 that should be worth money and get them for $1 each and sell the first one in the first week for $35 you are already into profit and all the others can sell eventually. I have had tapes on my shelf for 2 years before they sell. Others never do sell and their value eventually falls to nothing and you purge them... but the ones that do will keep you in business.

Books are like tapes, only different... same with cds. DVD's are also sometimes worth money.... sometimes.

I could go on and on... but I guess I'm on the scrapper forum, not the Amazon forum...

    Good luck today everyone.

Oh, yeah. sorry to hijack the thread.

I wouldn't suggest buying them either unless you are very experienced at it or want to learn about another way to make some money. I'm working on my taxes and my amazon sales for the year are over $8100 so for some of us it is worth while.

Congrats on your find mikeinreco. That really is the way to do it. Free turned into $50 is a great day for anyone.

    Hi,

I don't want to hijack this thread either but wanted to show how i identify the more valuble VHS tapes that you pick up at house clearances or charity shops etc.

I use a nifty litlle tool that separates the gems from the dross which means your not hoarding items that are worthless.
I put a video together that shows how i do this. It's my first video, so all you critics out there, go easy on me! lol

    Regards
    Ballymoss
