    desoto

we picked this up yesterday, its the oldest car we have got to date, pretty sure its a 50, but it could be a 50-53 from what we have looked at but some of you other guys may have a better idea, the carb is gone, the hood ornament is gone and the horn button on the steering wheel is gone. the seats are all but gone, and the floor is at least 25% rusted out. all the other trim appears to be present. i will get more pics tomorrow if i have time, its scheduled to be a busy day, all 4 of the desotos are in the door. all the door handles inside and out seem to work, the rear trunk opens and closes flawless, there is at least one fluid drive emblem on it and im gonna look closer tomorrow because im sure ive missed some of the good

That would be a good candidate for a rat rod, look it up. The car does not have to be anywhere perfect to be a rat rod.

i hope not, ive got alot of cars that can go first, i just got done looking at google images and ebay "desoto emblem" and couldnt find the ones in the door, so im thinking they are rare, i also found out why the hood ornament is gone, alot of them were lighted, and i found the horn button on ebay for 188 whether it was the same id ont know. it was in the barn behind the first pic. i got it at the little more than scrap price but less than crap so if i have to scrap it ill be okay as the radiator will push me over, ill hang on to it as long as i can and ive had a few sitting since this time last year. just waiting to see what happens

Cory, join the HAMB (just google the hamb), it is a message board like this one for pre 64 cars and trucks. They have a for sale section on there, part it out or sell it whole, you may have to set on it for a little while but the old car gods will bless you for helping to save something in that good of shape. The guys on there take less of a car than that and build masterpieces.

Tater, you come across some goodies too, check it out.

Cory, I'm guessing that to be a 1950 or '51. In case you didn't know, back then you could usually tell the year by looking at the bottom of the tail light.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

Look to see if you can sell the frame. I know a guy locally that just sold the FRAME ONLY off a Buick Electra 225 for $850. Old car buffs are hungry for parts.. as so many people have run them through the crusher instead of trying to salvage. Just my .02

Guess you gotta be old enough to remember that, Also the Studebakers and Ramblers. It wasn't always the "big 3".
