the gold heatsinks are found on xeons classified as fiber with heatsink and pins, they are worth about $6 pound. What people dont realize is that you can separate the heatsinks from the fiber part. Then the heatsinks with gold plating on them and the fiber part can both be sold at much higher prices. By removing the heatsinks and mlccs from the cpus your taking out a couple steps from the refiner also.
I buy and sell all types of scrap and escrap. I buy specialty and hard to sell escrap. I buy resale items. PM me or contact me at jghilino@hotmail.com
I AM ACTIVELY BUYING ESCRAP OF ALL TYPES. BOARDS, RAM, CPUS AND MUCH MORE

I spoke with olddude about the process in question by phone for the reason that there are multiple precautions, equipment and steps in this process. I have been studying, reading and testing how to refine for close to a year now and only till recently am i comfortable dealing with acids and bases.
You also have to be able to deal with getting rid of acid waste in a safe manner.
I would not ever post here how to refine anything, that's not what this forum is for. If anyone wants to learn go to grf and see what is involved to get to the point where I am now. I have scratched the surface of refining. Please, please , please do no attempt to do this or follow the above post without learning what is involved . You can kill yourself, your kids , your neighbors if you screw up!
I am not being dramatic I would not want an accident to happen to anyone here because I did not make this post after reading what was stated above
If you don't like it, tough. At least you will still be around to take me to task!

Ditto. This is not the place to discuss methods of refining. The gold refining forum is the place to go.

People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

I see that. My post was only to get him started on the road, included was the mention that i left out steps, so logic would take it not to be a procedure to follow just the general gist of what you have to do. Hence why at the end I told him to goto GRF

I have seen a lot of those coming out of p4 and celeron d. My question is do you know of a buyer that will buy the gold cap heat sink? Are an estimate of what they are worth. Also could you advise a beginner what mlccs stands for. Thank you
