    Got MY First Mac

I got my first ever Apple product as scrap last night. It's a G3 tower that is supposed to be operational. I did a search on Ebay and they do sell but I was curious about opinions on whether I should part it out (I'm not really computer savvy) or just attempt to sell whole?

Also if this is antique enough for any of the members here, please PM me and I will give you all the specs as soon as I can. Thanks in advance.

I'm glad that most Apple products have resale value cuz they can be a PITA to break down for me...I'm more about low tech then high tech too.

I'm as low tech as it gets. At least I used to be able to say that, before all the reading I've done on SMF lol

I'd try eBay. No clue what you'll get, but I wouldn't want to take an Apple product again! I can take apart a PC in about 10 minutes (Fully apart). I did about 200 iMac G4s. When I got "up to speed", I could do one every 25 minutes.

    Apples are not fun!

G3 and G4 macs are the worst to break down. I am to the point where I take the motherboard out, cut the wires off and throw it in the shred pile.

Ebay was my first thought and it looks like they sell there. I just haven't taken the ebay plunge yet and am in no rush to. Was just curious if there were other avenues to take that I hadn't thought of or read yet.

    Craigslist?

I sold two a year ago at a community "garage sale". I think they were iMac G4s IIRC, and they brought $35 a piece. They're great for kids to start on.

Other than that, I don't know who would want them. They're obsolete, and they're not rare.

But, every year I have some type of older Mac in our booth, and people always go nuts over it!

I took one look inside and decided I didn't want to tear into that unless I had to so I will try to sell it whole. I use Kijiji, the equivalent of craigslist, but find that people lowball too much or ask 10 questions and never really want it. But it's worth a shot.

Patience is not one of my virtues...but my unwillingness to take it apart might beat out my impatience.

I don't know, I don't think they are that bad to break down. Just did one the other day, only took a little longer than a regular PC. I have done quite a lot of them in the past. The only ones I truly hate are the old eMac's with the built in CRT monitor. Those ones I avoid too.
