Concerning cd rom and floppy boards

Just got a message back from a buyer of e-scrap and he states that floppy and cd rom boards are both considered motherboard grade and can be included as such. I thought they would pass as mid grade, but I was mistaken,,,

CD roms are definitely worth taking apart since the boards are relatively large and all you need to get it usually is to unscrew the back plate. Not sure about floppies, though: my buyer told me explicitly not to include the motors if I want MB grade. The boards are much smaller and it takes more time to take apart the drive and remove the motor.

Thats right. I buy them at the same price as any other motherboard.

are all high quality boards created equal? easy, ive seen your video about grading... but would you include boards out of strange electronics or microwave boards or anything? if cdrom boards can be equal to motherboards, then i dont see why i shouldnt throw every high quality board i come across into the same box (no matter how small)

If there are no gold pins on plug-in's and a few ic chips then their not hi grade boards, the other misc. electronics usually have brown circuit boards which are low grade( price runs from .05 to .25 a lb.)

If they look like a desktop motherboard...its high grade.

If you are UNSURE send me a photo and I will grade it for you.

Mechanic688 buyers are very picky...I am not as picky...reason why its good to sell to me and not to someone else.....a board that dose not have gold pins and or plug ins are fine as long as its looks like a desktop and NOT like a TV board.

The gold pins are worth some money but do not hold the amount of gold CLOSE to what gold fingers do. The plating on them is VERY small and VERY thin...so if a motherboard has them...well it has them..if not then o well. But if you go taking the gold pins off that wont make me happy in the long run because I am paying very good for the boards and your scraping what little profit I will make off of them.

dammmmbb! I've been thinking CD and floppy boards were low-med grade, and hardly worth shipping, just scrapped a few of em yesterday

there is usually 4 screws i got down to 1-2 min all apart there so easy and well worth time....

One buyer lists them at pheripheral grade at $ 2.10 a lb, still decent money.

Dune is correct ....Buyers definately dont mind paying the proper price for a board if you do the work for them by breaking everything down.....

We typically categorize those as regular motherboards.

I have seen some cd drive boards that are green on both sides but brown in the middle, If cd and floppy drive boards are mobo grade I'm going to start braking them down.

That's interesting. I knew that cd-rom's were MB grade but not floppy drives. My yard won't take at that grade because they are brown.

AM i reading this right? 3.5 inch floppy drive boards that are green on one side and brown on the other are motherboard grade? I always thought they were low grade and people just snapped off the gold connector.
