    SCSI vs IDE HDD breakdowns

I've seen the posts for the metal content of a "hard drive", which I assume was an IDE drive (old common format for desktop computers). Has anybody broke down and compared the content of that to the content of a SCSI hard drive (found in high-end workstations and servers)? Or Fibre Channel?

scsi drives are worth more sold as a working unit....so before you go all crazy and rip them apart run the S/N number first. Other than that...they are about the same.

I'd say the 146GB and up are worth more. 73GB looks hit and miss. Best bet is to bundle together and list on ebay. 36GB I'd tear down.

    I have sold a 10gb SCSI drive for $95 + shipping.

Check all S/N numbers. Alot of small ones are not worth anything...but some small ones are worth a ton of money.

You take the model number and look them up on websites and ebay.

The small drives are needed for older systems that for some reason someone is still using. Alot of people do still use the old systems. On top of that computer/server shops need to have a few good ones on hand if they know they have a client with a older system. That way if it stops working they have the parts they need. What I can say is this. Most of my SCSI drives go to CA.

Some IT schools want them as well for there older systems that they use for training/teaching.

Sure is...so is google shopping. It will show you many sites all at once alone with ebay.
