I got a call from China the other day. I'm not kidding either.

Litterally got a call from someone in china looking to by my "harness wire". He didnt mention much about price, but he said If I can fill one "Container" I could make a good profit.
Due to bad cell service, accents, and just disbelief that china is calling, I don't think this will have a magical ending. However, it shows you that China is looking to buy cheaper, at any expense.
If your profits start shrinking, its cause CHINA is trying to control the global economy. They are succeeding also.

See my next post for the upcoming bubble!

I know there are foreign agents here buying scrap from the smaller dealers. I'm assuming they're trying to cut out as many middlemen as possible. They'd pay you the same as you're used to getting thereby driving up their profits (lowering their costs). Same way with core buyers - they're buying direct from garages and repair centers. Within the last two years, I lost all but one repair shop to one core buyer from out-of-state.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

Mick, I am currious what core company is stepping in on your turf?

Also, china is cutting out the middle man cause the middle man is probably holding till they raise prices. Its a waiting game to see who folds first.

A different post said, "empty ships going back to china, its happened before"

I think this is actually going on.

I'm kind of hesitant to name names, but for the batteries it was a larger parts supply company. They're supposed to be taking batteries in exchange when you buy a new one but they can turn them into the State for its core charge. I lost the brake hubs/alternators/starters to a company out of Mass.

That left me the body shop but it was 30+ miles one way and just not feasible. Finally had to let it go.

I wonder if the guys calling are middle level users who are getting squeezed out of the supply chain in their native countries. Generally when things are going good few bother squeezing out the middlemen, when times get tight they start killing off competition.

Take it from a guy who has spent the last 30 years in international trade and import. Unless you have the contacts overseas you are not going to have a legitimate deal from any foreign country. It takes years to develop those contacts.

I wonder how much scrap metals that China has piled up after all the years of them buying.

Was a thought that I have thought on a few times as you can make alot of tanks and such with so much metals.
