    Software question...

I picked up some 'stuff' awhile back. Inside a laptop case were some software CD's, Winblows 95, MS encarta virtual globe/street/trip planner in great condition. COA's and manuals included. I see folks selling them on ebay, I listed them, but after thinking about it. Started wondering about the legality of it as well as if the coa's will be valid.
    Any help ??

there is nothing wrong listing them software... they are not copies they are orignal.. but I be truly honest.. I not sure if anyone would be interested in buying Pre 1995 software.. best thing to do.. is crakem..

got an old microwave.. toss one in the microwave for 5 second and lights off and You got a crakem cd.

If they don't sell, you could offer them up for free on Craigslist or Freecycle. You never know if you might gain a contact that way. Or perhaps, someone tinkering with an older model computer might just be able to put them to good use.

That's how I was able to get Quicken for my business use. Someone put up an offer for an older version of Quicken, free for the taking. It works fine on my slightly outdated computer.

I like old software, it mostly still works, and anything that makes you buy a new one every year, I'm not going to use very long ; ) My favorite photo editing software came from a yard sale for a dollar about 12 years ago. It still has lots of things I've never used, it's simple, and works very well.
The program my truck service manual has was made to work with 3.1, before Windows 95 was even heard of by most people, and it still works just fine.
There's others too, but those just came to mind

A lot of older machine shops still use Legacy software. I deal with several that get parts from me for old 486 computers. They just have not upgraded because what they have is still working for them.

As for the legality of selling it on eBay, I am thinking that Microsoft could care less. They do not even support it any more.
There may a million better places to live than Iowa, but none of them are home!

Man, there's no amount of tinkering that would make me want to install Win 95 again.

I installed NT4 a while back for giggles and I lasted all but 5 minutes in it before I said screw this.

Some older machines wouldn't even carry a hard drive large enough to load windows 95, I believe it took up a staggering 150-200MB of space. I used to sort of "collect" old software, and found an early 95 on a set of 5.5" floppy disks, 22 disks I believe, but the full install only used around 25-40MB space. Still have those, originals, plus a set of em saved to 3.5" floppys
