    Drill powered Wire Stripper

I came accross this on Ebay. I have NOT bought it and am not sure if it's any good or not. It seems inexpensive if it works. I read a few reviews, a few said it was junk, and a few like it after they messed with it a little bit. So not sure if it would be a good solution to stip wire or not. But it sure would pay for it's self if it did work.

Was anyone brave enought to purchase one of these? Just curious, after stripping wire this weekend, I sure could use an easlier way. LOL

I bought the "blue" stripper off ebay. It's manual, but works for what I am doing. At 100 bucks you could buy 3 and put your kids to work. I would be curious how much faster the unit you're looking at is over a manual.

I looked at the manual stripper yesterday, and was thinking about buying it. Youthink it's a good buy then?

I think it's a fair buy. Again it's manual so it takes time to strip a pile. A lot faster than trying to lay a blade on a wire and run the length of it.

Comes with 2 blades, but of course I misplaced mine right away. Still has an edge though and can be sharpened. Should fit most benches but I have a thick welding table so it didn't fit. I fastened it to a piece of channel, then clamped that to the bench. Device looks primitive (looks like chinese junk) and out of the box you wonder if it really works, but so far, so good with mine.

Works on braided and solid, something a few strippers I looked at won't do. At first I didn't like it, but it took some tuning to get it just right. For starters I had the blade set too deep, so it was cutting into the wire and therefore catching my hand as I pulled. Set it to cut most of the way, but not touch the wire, then pull it apart.

Another thing that I may tinker with later is making a wheel for the incoming side. If you're on the outfeed side pulling a lot of wire, it tends to want to ride up into the blade and get stuck. If there was something on the infeed side to keep it low, it would be less likely to hike up and get caught. Or use one hand to hold it low and pull it through with the other.

I may just go all out and buy a copper chopper! Yeah, I won't be affording that in this lifetime.

For the 100 bucks, I like it.

Thanks for the recap! I may buy it after the holidays seeing it's been hard to find more then 10-15 min a day to even get at my wire pile. Now I need to find a robot to take apart all my motors and I will be in business.
