I think some of what i do is called tweaking, any way , I do my share of short , Mix , AL , Brass , Copper , SS . since i have a smallish van type the most i'll carry is about 1200 LBS > the smallish vans are ok though since $10 bucks gas seems to go far enough to find the products
One of my favs are TV's & after i take them apart, The boards i put in as Mix with the tin, the solder seems to have a bit of weight . The yard men have never complained so i am wondering am i getting rid of a item i could sell else where or are there more parts i can remove for money .
I have learned from the yard men - that it's not what they will tell you ,but what they don't tell you. . Obviously any item they take from a scraper the yard will turn a profit from.

Hi copper.....looks like you need to do a LOT more research. You can find all the answers you need in the archives here. And don't talk to the yard men.....out in the yard, I mean..in general they know less than you do....go to the supervisors or mgs...and many of them don't know or can't be trusted. That's why you have to do your own research. Good luck learning.

Tv's and monitors are close cousins so read up, monitors do have some extra shielding sometimes.

Unless you are disposing of the tubes legally, I would stay away from them. There are places that will take the tubes but you have to pay to dispose of them. I charge $15 to take monitors and TV's. This way I can dismantle them for the metals, and plastic, and dispose of the tubes legally via a company that charges me $10 per tube. The extra $5 is for the shipping to the recycling center.

meth head. heck no . The town i pick them , the tubes are picked up on a different day. so whats with the boards . Put them with tin mix or do they have a hidden value.

The boards from tv's go for about $.10 a pound. Have to find a yard that takes them and see if it worth seperating or throwing in with shred.

Ok i have been putting it with my mix tin loads so i get tin price. A time ago i gave the yard 15 or 20 boards loaded with all the parts they paid me .06 and at the time the tin pile was .09 well that was the last time for that
Same for dirty Aluminum couple of times i fell for that .First time i heard the the yard guy say Dirty Aluminum & i respond OK great it's Aluminum till saw the receipt .06 cents
gotta watch emm . Got me once or twice on the dirty brass like 10 pounds of nice brass and 1 or 2 pieces slipped by me with a little metal opps all 10 pounds dirty brass Well it's all in the game evens out any way

I'd get more by throwing them in an appliance - like stuffing a stove or refrigerator. Ten cents is $200 a ton. Light iron or tin (appliances etc) is $245 a ton.

Basically you are at the Discretion Of the Yard that you are at as How they Class Stuff.

I found what works is any load (which I do clean except Tin ) give them I'll say " if you find any dirty I'll bring it back tomorrow " I find that forces them to be honest cause if the item in question is not dirty now they got to put it on the table.
They were sneaky, see i go there all the time
so it's not like they say it's dirty what you want to do ? , no they just try to let you think it's all cool, and once your at the cashier your brass is in with a whole bunch of other brass so how you gona prove it. one time with 10 or 12 LBS and once with 38 pounds brass.
Dirty was .70 clean was $1.70 at the time - that's gas $$ I just can't have that.

That's what I do too. If it doesn't go with the clean then throw it back in the truck. I used to have this problem taking in bailing with the yard I used to go to. Back before I found the forum and I didn't know what was what I would take in a load of what I though was all bailing and they would be throwing stuff off to the side instead of on the pile. I finally asked once, "What's that?" They said it was iron so asked if that was worth more and they said yes so I said, "Then put it back in the truck." They'll get ya if you ain't paying attention or don't know what you're doin.

Back to the original question that was asked, on a TV board we usually pull off(after removing all wiring) all alum. heat sinks, small copper coils, smaller transformers, and the one large transformer

Well i found a yard that will pay .16 per pound for boards filled , But empty no they don't want them. Thankful for the Trojan horse
