Looking for someone new scrap metal business - I'll get you started

I've finally come to the conclusion that I physically can not deal with general scrap metal. I have some to get rid of so I had an idea that I'd like to get someone started. Just a couple strings you'll take all Light Iron (at least. The rest is negotiable as to how much you want to deal with). Second - you have your own equipment and don't expect me to provide labor. I'll use my tractor and bucket or forks to help but you'll be doing the heavy lifting/loading. I'm located just off Route 3 between Palermo and Liberty. I'll give you the benefit of my experience, if you want. I'm open to cash buys, ****ering or whatever. I had a guy talking to me about it a couple weeks ago. Come to find out - he had no vehicle or trailer (he even had to get a ride here). The pictures show some of the stuff but not all. And none of the ewaste I've already torn down.

If you arrow through on photobucket -- use the Back Arrow. The copper wire on the scale is not part of this set.

Be a bit of a haul but you could sell to a yard around here. You might even talk me into selling that trailer - dual axle tilt-bed car hauler with a winch - but you'd still need a truck.

Probably keep at ewaste. Just getting to be too much throwing iron around - loading and unloading. I've really slowed down. Don't advertise. Just garage sales and the like. Sometimes, I'll buy from prior customers. Just depends

Have you tried listing it in Uncle Henry's ?

You never can tell ... it's gettin' to be that time. They've probably already started shooting season 2 of Downeast Dikerers.

Is Liberty Tool still open ? Haven't been down that way in awhile.

No to Uncle Henry's. Liberty Tool is up for sale. I'd heard what he is asking, but forget. Anyway, I think whoever buys it will need to move it. That building may be "quaint" but ...

I guess everything eventually comes to an end. They've have / had branches in Searsport & Bar Harbor with contacts down in Boston. I've gotten some awfully nice used tools from them over the years. It's hard to imagine someone new taking it over and being able to make a go of it.

One of the local scrap guys that does steel is on vacation down in Old Orchard right now. I'll ask him if he would be interested in stopping by at your place when he gets back.

We've got one of the local artists that specializes in making sculptures with found metal objects. He travels quite a bit. Do you have any old ornamental iron or softer lead alloy aluminum in the piles ?

Even when you unload all of this inventory, you will still scrap! Hard to teach an old dog new tricks!

If I lived closer I would just help you get rid of it all! Hopefully some SMF members that live close buy will do that...

Sry to see ya downsizing because of ability but I literally feel your pain every day. Been thinking the same thing lately. even these servers are getten hard on an old man. What I used to do in a day a coupla years ago now takes me a week. can't hire help. that just turns into a paid training thing for more competition. the last 3 loads many of the servers are stripped of every thing but the mother board. The forum and internet is great for every thing but keeping trade secrets

The Only thing keeping me going is I have to do something to stay alive other then watch TV.

Sincere good luck at what ever you decide to do. mike.

I'm in no hurry. The only thing right now is the load of computer carcasses on the trailer. I'm wanting to get the trailer back so I might haul them next week, myself. The rest of it has mostly been there for a couple years so far. I sold off most of the copper and brass I'd been stockpiling a couple months ago. A forum member has put in dibs on the ewaste.
