    El Paso shread - $200/ton

I dumped off a real small load (half ton) of steel and didn't have time to go get paid so I let em send me a check. The scale guy had marked it at $175/ton and the clerk in the office scratched it out and put $200/ton on the ticket That was nice!

That's pretty low even with the bonus. Shred up here is going for $250/ton last time I checked.

Lmao, you are. But you have to remember in NJ we aren't that far from shipping areas (Delaware River and the Ocean). Camden is right on the river and Trenton as well is near the river. The yards that are paying less have probably a hell of a lot more shipping costs involved. NJ at most at its widest is maybe 70-75 miles from river to ocean and or NYC.

I figured prices reflect how close to a shipping port a yard is. (Or refinery). I am about 7/8 hours inland of Wa/Or ports.

Yea, this is the lowest grade stuff, probably 50% wall studs. I get truckloads of wall studs all the time because most of my stuff is demolition debris. I pick out anything that I can convert to #1 prep and sell the rest as shread.

Yeah, um... we get $120 / lb, so I would take your prices any day. ND is as land locked as you can get. Everything here goes by rail.

Just called the other yard. $95 / ton. THAT's why I haven't dealt with that yard!

Must be another reason...AZ is pretty well socked in and no oceans here in Colorado and we are at about $190 for shred.
