    I helps to ask

Went out this morning with no idea where to start. Ended up on what I call "industrial row." About 5 miles if nothing but businesses. I drove all the way to the end and was gonna try my luck dumpster diving the ones with the dumpsters by the road. Then I said what the he'll I'll do some door to door. I grabbed a stack of my freshly printed business cards and went in this auto shop. While the lady at the desk is getting the shop manager for me I noticed a small roll off dumpster full of brake rotors and mufflers and other stuff. Manager comes in. I introduce myself and hand him my business card. I asked who recycles your scrap? He told me. I said if you don't mind can I ask how much they charge for the service? He said 250 every time they pic up the roll off. Well long story short I told him if he was interested I'd come in every other day and take it away free of charge. Needless to say he was excited. So I just finished building a wooden dumpsterlike box out of some 3/4 plywood o got from a construction site. Double walled. Dropping it off in the am. Overall I handed out 43 cards and got permission to take what I wanted out of 4 dumpsters. Plus 2 a.c. service tech's said they would call me when they do replace jobs. One of them gave me 3 electric motors and a 5 gallon bucket half full of insulated wire. Going in the morning to find out what I need to do to register as a legit business

Nice action but watch your back when you're picking up the auto shop scrap. I don't think the guy who lost the multi-hundred a month job is going to be too happy with you. Hope it turns out well...

Yeah I don't think he will be happy either. But my kids will be. That's all that matters to me. I scrap because it feeds them. I'm trying to advance this. I don't want to keep shopping curbco. Although it's kinda fun. I want to make this a legit business. I'm not trying to eat all the pie. But I will have my slice. Beside they are a huge corporation. With their green cans and thousands of trucks. If I'm a threat to them. I must be doing something right.

Oh, I thought you were talking about another smaller company type of situation, not a national company. Nah, I wouldn't worry about any threats from them. They'll just find someone else to stick...
