    car broker

I dont scrap cars but various neighbors do.
When I have a lead on a free cat, what is a good asking price for hooking them up?
    50 for a car
    75 for a van/truck?
They also have to pay 50 out their pocket for the tow.

So your neighbors scrap cars and they have them towed home?
I'm not quite sure what you are trying to accomplish.. can you give us some more details on what you are trying to do?
I'm so into scrapping.. When my Steel Toe Boots Wear out, I cut the Steel out of them and recycle the Toe!

Ok so I think I understand. Correct me if I am wrong. You get a lead on a car- and you get the cat- and that is all you are interested in- but you can give your neighbors a lead on buying the rest of the car?

Am I missing something here? Or is it you really don't want to scrap a car?

I don't scrap cars, but I would have no problem taking them for free.

I would get the title signed over, siphon out the gas tank, have a cheap towing company meet me at the car and have the car towed straight to the scrap yard. At the scrap yard I would collect my $300 to $500 and pay for the tow.

Better than collecting $50 for a commission.

Around here there is no such thing as a free car and you can't even buy a total piece of junk car for scrap value.

This would be my advice as well if Jeb Nailed it on what I was probing at! Get to the car- take a battery operated Sawzall, cut cat- have towed straight to the yard if you don't have the ability to drag it home and gut it there!

    lol, cat=car, typo

    the car has no title
and i dont have the space nor the means to chop it up at my own house
sooo i pass word onto my neighbor and just ask him to throw me some cash. 50-75 sounds fair, yes?

I'd say if he'll give you $50 or $75 for the lead- go for it. I'd be real careful though about dealing in cars without title. Not sure of laws in Cali.. but here I could get in hot water for dealing with cars without title.

Certain states allow car to be scrapped without title beyond say 10 years.. as I said- not sure about your laws.. but giving a guy a lead and getting some cash seems to be an easy way to make cash.

I sent an email saying me and my buddy would get it. the moment i got the response i went down the street to make buddies with one of the many auto dismantelers in the nieghborhood. I let him know there is no title and he is fine with that

I'd say you just made $50 to $75 bucks then!
Do a quick VIN check before you get into this thing!

everytime i confront my neighbor about getting me the cash he keeps saying he doesnt have it ~~dude, you guys have a five man crew and a constant flow of cars coming in, how do you not have 40 bucks?~~ and when i push him he keeps bringing up that there was 3 bags of trash in it, and it should be my responsibility. its liek 'cmon, know you guys deal with car trash often enough, it should be part of your buisness plan. but yeah, im going to meet with him at 2oclock, is there anything you guys could recommend i say to him when he tries to bring up the 3baGs of trash thingy?? i mean i only asked him for 40 and even now hes still trying to cheap out on me. it was a biiiiiiig van too

once i get the money, ima telll him ima go to someone else with my next vehicle that doesnt try and **** me around.

With the aggravation of everything you are having to deal with, you would have been better off to just let the van sit and never went to see it. You need a better plan. Certainly not worth 20.00 (with the hope of another 20.00).

As soon as he started jerking me around on the money I would have told that Fu#$%$g A#$ Ho%e not to worry about the money or any other leads from me, just chalk it up as a learning experience, and moved on.

I would approach it from another angle. Tell him you expect to double your access to cars in the next month. This is not a lie, just a goal. Tell him you would be happy to do business with the neighbors, unless he honors his word. Then collect your $ 20.00 or park every new vehicle in you driveway for a day before taking it to another neighbor. In the future, get cash in hand before revealing the source. In this case I would only accept cash not a check for a referral.
