    One of today's pickups

Picked this up today. It's an 03 with a 4.0. As clean on the inside as the outside. Picked it up on a call. I've had two people look at it so far and we think it's gonna be okay. Shifts out good but I only drove it about a mile. It's gonna need a radiator and pretty sure that's it. I know I posted earlier on sledges post not to put any money into anything your not gonna keep. I'm in this cheap enough tho that I can spend a couple hundred and still be below scrap. If I have no problems after this I may keep it or sell it during the middle of tax returns.

That's a Grand Cherokee, probably top of the line. Nice looking Jeep.

Thanks mech and pts. I know I'm fortunate. I'm thinking of reposting a cl ad tho. Ive not had one in a long time. I've not got a single thing lined up for tomorrow or the rest of the week as far as that goes. I do have another one ton I've not posted on here yet i need to work on plus the jeep.

Hijack my own thread, actually twice. 1st My company I work for signed a maintenance contract with Verizon so it's about to get crazy.

2nd my yard manager took me to lunch today and he asked me if I knew where I ranked in his customer list for lbs in 2013, I had no idea. Keep in mind and he let me know this to that my yard buys the scrap from all the other yards in my area plus he has several industrial accounts. I say I but I mean we as Dustin still helps me some and steve helped a good part of the year. Anyway we ranked number 20 and beat out several industrial accounts tho he wasn't allowed to tell me who. Anyway back to the jeep

I've got a gallery on my page you need to check out

Edit, all of those cars we bought on calls at less than scrap with titles, the white mustang the guy drove to my house, the sea foam green jaguar I never even loaded on the trailer, I paid him an I started to get the trailer ready and he said you can drive it the motor just makes a noise, that noise was a loose exhaust shield. Keep in mind I've bought 100s that are pure junk, I used to say one in a 100 was a score but it's probably 1 in 50

People's craziness/laziness working to your advantage!

That looks almost like my Jeep that I sold last year. Mine was older than that one (2001), and I sold it to a dealer for $5,000. If I had had the time to sell it directly to an individual, I could have gotten even more. Admittedly, mine was a V8 with very low mileage (and a nice dark gray color that never looked dirty, which was my favorite feature), but those Grand Cherokees seem to hold their value pretty well.

I can't believe somebody gave that away, but I'm happy for you that they did.

I hope you didn't drive too fast with the hood up. What's that on top, a coke cup, or a red light?
Maybe it was part of their settlement and they had to split it with the ex?

Nah I didn't drive it with the hood up. It was a coke can a mechanic set up there while he figured out my options.

I've had several of them now, most of them have been v8s, I top out at 500 and that's only for 3/4 and 1 tons. On SUVs and 1/2 tons I usually get them for 350-400, 250-300 minivans, 200-300 on cars The only exception that I remember anyway was my 3000gt, I can't remember if it was 600 or 700

That's a good-looking Jeep, Cory. It's amazing, some people will give up a vehicle like that as junk while others will spend thousands to keep one that really IS junk on the road Being that I'm a mechanic as well as a core guy/scrapper, I'm happy no matter what they decide to do.

Congratulations on a great score. If I didn't need my truck so badly, I would be driving a Jeep. I would rather have the 4.0 than the newer V6, too. That engine is pretty much indestructible, and they're not that bad to work on.
