    Advice on a Beer truck

I picked up this beverage truck this weekend. It is a 1982 ford 800 with a 23ft aluminum beverage body on it. It runs and drives awesome. Im not too sure on what to do with it. I will be driving it on a scale later this week to see how much it weighs and if it will pay out. My ideas so far were to sell it as is, cut the back off(aluminum) and use the truck as a metal hauler(since it is very low ot the ground), or to cut the whole thing up for scrap. Does anybody have any ideas on what they would do?

Aluminum is the lowest paying of all metals. You could keep it to haul metal or even junk items like you suggested, or even start doing moving jobs on the side.

Since it is in such good shape, it would be a shame to scrap it.

I will gladly trade you all my light iron, cast, and #1 iron for all of your aluminum - a pound for a pound.

Most of the aluminum would be clean. There isn't much steel on the aluminum part also the inside is divided with aluminum sections to keep the beer cases seperate.

sorry I'm new to posting pictures, so I couldn't figure out how to have it show up on the page.

posting pictures use www.tinypic.com its real easy that way. How much did you pay for this truck if you dont mind me asking? I personaly would cut the box off of it and turn it into a flatbed for scrap hauling. Or maybe even try to find a wrecker bed for it? Heck who knows could put it up on ebaymotors and sell it outright to some small beverage company.

I was trying my hardest to only pay 1500, but the guy wouldn't go under 2,000, so thats what I ended up paying for it. I just loved it too much. I also made a nice contact out of the deal. The owner owns a large distributing company and will keep me in mind if they have any metal they need to get rid of.

Yup. I see a band on top, a big screen in one door a stripper pole in the other with taps all around that baby.

I have seen guys use these trucks as rolling displays at like home shows and bike shows.

I didn't say that I don't collect and cash in aluminm. I do. I was just saying that it is the lowest paying for here anyways.

If that's the lowest paying, how much does steel pay there?

Something that long & low would be an awesome candidate for a rollback bed.

Me personally, would use it to gather metal to cover the cost of the truck first and then use it for disposable income

I'd cover that puppy with my company logo and use it to carry scrap to the yard! This section for #1, this section for #2, AL here, ICW here...

scrap the al. use the truck, for what you paid for it, it will earn it back in no time. plus if you put a roll back or flat bed on it you might have more luck selling it
