Determine never to be idle. No person will have occasion to complain of the want of time who never loses any. It is wonderful how much may be done if we are always doing.

Hit it with a hammer. That'll tell you if it's aluminum.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

Alvord iron and salvage
3rd generation scrapper and dam proud of it
We get a lot of stuff from collision shops, and many hoods are made of aluminum today. ALWAYS test before throwing them into your shred pile!

I agree with #2 says - probably be fiberglass.
Have a 03 ford. When I bought it checked hood with a magnet and it is aluminum.
My 03 mustang Mach1 has a factory fiberglass glass hood. Even if it was al I won't scrap it. (1 of 789 made in zinc yellow ). Great post though. Never assume what scrap is let the magnet tell you.
There will be alot more fiberglass and aluminum parts on cars than you might think to make them more "Fuel efficient"...Basically just weigh less, and more catastrophic collisions. (god forbid)
