Next time you come to the forum. Look at the top right corner of the home page. There is a search box. type in whatever you are interested in. You may have to wrap your search term in quotation marks ("") for best results.

Collect appliances or anything that can contain copper. If someone is throwing something out (vacuum cleaner, etc.), ask if I can cut off the power cord. Someone is putting in a new washing machine? Ask if you can have the old one. I recently stopped by the city dump and found a copper pipe in a refuse pile. Carry a wire snippers in your vehicle. City having a cleanup day and stuff is stacked on the curb for pickup? Check the piles for items.

Keep up on what buildings are being demolished. A local tavern and house in my neighborhood are set to be demolished. I contacted the owner and he has allowed me to scrap it out. Copper propane line, wiring, electrical boxes, compressors and other items I have retrieved.

Your name KINGOFSCRAPPING and your question does not indicate kingship yet , Wile copper is a good payer based on a rarity . It really is not rare to find
TV's are a fine way to start , Vacuum motors . Safe to say ANY THING electric will have copper BUT as the years continue to move forward Aluminum has been used to replace many copper electric components . But since Aluminum is a decent payer , save your Aluminum in a trash pail as you search for COPPER ,
So the general tip ANY THING electric and that is just about every thing

I have been picking thru a huge pile of rubble thats come from a two story shopping centre being demolished.
Got about NZ$160 of Copper wire bare bright, mostly earth cables by the look of it.
I have stripped the outer plastic cover off it to get a good price.

Theres about 25Kgs of plastic covered 240V AC cable & telephone cables with 30+ odd pairs in it.
I strip off the outer covers so theres only one layer of plastic on it now, thats got a 66% return in Copper of the full weight.

Theres also a lot of 2 foot long Aluminium extrusion from window frames, its all twisted from the demolition & some has bits if Steel screws/nails/pins in it. But i reckon theres 100 Kgs of that all up.
So i should get about NZ$300 all up, its not far from home, walking distance.

The moneys going into a new ( to me ) car. 2003 Audi, paid $240 for it, it had a flat battery.
Needs 2 upper suspension arms ( i have a 'parts car' to get these off )
two tyres & wheel alignment. ($355)
Fix a cloudy headlight ($30 kit)
Brake hose ( $12.50, i got 4 for NZ$50 from Germany )

My other running cars oil pickup screen must have got clogged & that ruined its engine, 2 weeks ago.
Will have to buy another motor for it. Thats a pity because it was running great beforehand.
Its time to sell some audio gear i dont need, then sell my escrap & use that to fix other cars & sell them.

Do you have a heavy equipment / powertrain dealership near you? We rebuild axles at work, and they just throw the copper and brass washers/bushings in the regular bin. One of our small mining gear axle yields, on average has 6 - 10 lbs of copper washers, 20+ lbs of brass. A monthly dumpster dive, with permission, or even asking to have a scrap bin set up might work. (most valve cartridges, like pressure reducing valves or counter balance valves are aluminium or brass as well.)

On another note, car radiators, heater cores, coolers - love them! I just scrapped a 300 lbs rad from a stationary gen set, got $400 CAD for it.
