some of the things i look for while out curb shopping

    Hello everyone,
I havent seen anything about this on here, so I figured I would post some of the things that i have found while out shopping at Curbco.
When I tell people where I get things I say Curbco, everyone wants to know where this store is and i wont tell them.
Anyway here are some things that curb shoppers and cleanout guys should keep off of the scrap pile.
    http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/...psddc05cc8.jpg
This set of chairs, Russell Woodard, Sculptura, sold for $600
    http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/...ps15cf2215.jpg
This chair and footstool, Westnofa Siesta Chair, $795 online.
I have also picked up a Marcel Breuer, Wassily Chair, and a Kovacs stacked orb lamp, that I do not have pictures of.

Some of these things dont look like much but they can fetch a good ammount of money to the right collector.
Check out mid century modern items, if you pick them up dont scrap them.

i sold the woodard chairs at a yard sale adverrtised on craigslist, i still have 8 more of those that the wife wants to keep.
the siesta chair i just got on friday on my way to the scrap yard, took it to a fleamarket on saturday, had a lot of interest but no buyer yet.

I've been curbing and reselling for years, but was rather clueless on mid-century modern stuff until recently when I was tipped off on it by a friend.

    Since then I've been studying.

There's alot of it still out there, including my bedroom set that I couldn't give away 4 years ago and ending up keeping instead.
Might be time to sell soon if this keeps up. LOL

My house is furnished from Curbco. Between my wife and I, we haven't had to buy anything furniture wise. I'd figure about 60% of everything we own is from Curbco.

yup back in the day about 50 some years ago my mother tried to give away a sterling silver tea and coffee set complete with urn and tray because she was tired of polishing it all the time.
it weiged about 5 lbs no body wanted it so it went to the town dump.

Reminds me of my grandmother... she had a whole set of green depression, hated them. My dad said when they could finally afford a set of china she took them all outside and busted every last piece with a hammer.

Olddude, it hurts every time I read that about your mother throwing away her silver. Ouch, ouch!

The other day I was tossing my tiny amount of garbage (everything not scrapped, recycled or composted), and I saw a bunch of usable school supplies and some nice lounging clothes in my fourplex's trash. So I grabbed it all.

There were six spiral bound notebooks with only a few pages actually written in, a binder, some sheet protectors and a few folders. I can use all that. I recycled the used pages.

In the clothes, everything was super clean and smelled freshly laundered. I got a nice warm white zipped hoody, an Abercombie anorak hoody, some flannel sweats, a bunch of white tees, and some button-up work shirts.

i took the work shirts in to donate to an animal shelter thrift store and kept the rest. Nice stuff.

Also found a shoebox with two Sony video game remotes. I don't know if they work, but I can certainly scrap them.

The same fourplex person is becoming a regular. Last night he put out three plastic house trash containers - nice ones - two are kitchen sized and one is bathroom sized - a pair of excellent tennis shoes, barely used and a nice brand, some warm gloves and one of those transparent plastic shelf things with three drawers that sits on the floor.

Good bins for me for scrapping, plus the sneakers = yay!
