    UGh Printers

Was not planning on working today but hit the shop anyway when I found out that the guy who works for me was out there......Anyway, until Tuesday all we have left is printers right now so we started in.

Anyone who has spoken to me about printers knows that I can't stand them......But they still have some value for us so I just grin and bear it.

I was surprised when I started breaking open the large laser printers and found several high grade boards inside.....They were kind of a pain in the backyard to get out of the housings but it was worth it....Not to mention the fact that many of the units were pretty hefty with steel

Of course I am sure that I will feel differently once I have gotten through the entire room, which houses about 75 printers in all.

load them into the trailer as they are...use the hammer to brake/smash the boards out an then take them to your buyer as is. My buyer will take them dirty like that.

If you've got a plastic buyer, there's a ton of ABS in all those printers. Plus if you can find a toner refill shop in the area they pay a couple bucks a piece for the toner carts. If you've got the storage breaking them down is worth it.

but what if I just love taking a hammer and just smashing them to bits an like...kill them? LMAO

I sell the metal and the plastic around 0.1 a pound mixed so there is really little profit for me to brake it down to much.

heh, yeah, but if I smash something because of my limited space, I have to clean it up. So I take things apart.

We have a plastics buyer and it all comes out in the end....We have actually cut down on the amount of time that it takes to tear apart some of the monsters by studying the old manuals for them....My wife was an accountant for an office machine supply company for many years and she still had a bunch of the manuals for us to use.

But I do know the joy of breaking those darns things apart when they are not behaving themselves...We have a set of pry bars that we refer to as "The Persuaders" and they do come in mighty handy from time to time.
