Over the last month I got into scrapping to save up some $$.
Most of the metal is stuff I have found on the side of the road or gotten from a 'whiteware dumping ground'.
They dump off scrap whiteware & I scrap it out to get the Copper/Brass/Ali/SS
Theres a bunch of TV's microwaves & washing mc's, computer crts, a car wiring loom & fridge parts (inc a brass freezerbox)
Over the last month I scrapped >
45Kg of Copper = NZ$315
13Kg of Brass = NZ$52
38Kg of Ali = NZ$57
28Kg of SSteel = NZ$56
Total of NZ$474 or NZ$120 a week (US$ = NZ$0.80) or (1NZ$ = US 80cents)
Cause I gotta carry everything (no car etc) I had to use the nearest place & that did cost me a bit.
ie Copper $/Kg there is about NZ$6.50 a KG.
While at another place it was NZ$8.20 a KG
Also they screwed me on the last sale as I didn't look at the prices when he was writing it down & they had given me a NZ$1.60 Kg for stainless.
While its actually NZ$2 a Kg.
Something about "Mixed metal stainless" B*****!,
I'd checked everything with a magnet & none of it was magnetic.
They did pay me a bit more because the weight on
another metal was 1Kg higher than I thought it was & so I sorta got even there.
If I'd noticed, I woulda got the 1Kg extra & got the better price for the SS.
Shoulda known too, they once weighed up 3Kg of Copper as 1Kg! Burnt for $12!
