    AWG of common ground wire

Does anybody know what AWG the ground wire used in house wiring is? For instance, if you have a bunch of 12/2 with ground, I've got a chart that shows the 12 gauge wire would be two pounds per 50.6 feet, but then I'd need to add the ground wire. Then, is the ground wire different gauge for different gauge wiring?

People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

I believe that the ground wire would be the same gauge. Just a guess though. Anytime that I have 12/3 they are all the same gauge.

    +1 on that.

Thanks, all. Didn't think of it being the same gauge. I'm planning something and don't have any to measure right now. Maybe I'll get some in soon.

All that I've stripped so far the ground has been the same size as the main conductors. If it's 12 then the ground is 12 also.

I just came across some 12/2 w/ ground today. Different than all the rest I've seen. Seems to have 16 gauge ground wire. Didn't strip it yet. Should I post a picture?
