I feel so wrong starting a thread about catalytic converters... but I can't find any info on this site nor on Google or
EBay, though I may just be using the wrong search terms somehow.
Anyways, I may be helping a friend of the family clear out a house (yes, house) FILLED with motorcycle parts, tools, bikes in various stages of completeness, etc. Nearly all are Harleys. Her husband died not long ago and that was his thing, working on Harleys. Obviously, we'd like to sell the better condition items for more than scrap, but as far as I know selling used cats isn't kosher.
Do the catalytic converter pipes from harleys/bikes in general contain PMs comparable to cars and trucks? I know they have honeycombs, I just don't know if it's the good stuff or not. I'm guessing probably not, just because I can't find much about it... absolutely 0 scrap cats for motorcycles on ebay. Just a couple usable ones.
While I'm on the subject, what grade of stainless are the pipes and such made of, generally? Depends on make/model?
Thanks for any help on the subject.
OK I can't resist, I also have a 2000 Volvo v70 XC AWD wagon parts car. Haven't decided what I want to do with it yet... it's in really good external shape, just needs some money pumped into it to get it inspected. What's the going rate for original volvo cats?
Please don't hurt me!
