Asking questions in a book store

If you're in a book store, in the 'business' section... and you ask the person next to you "how do I start a business?", that's the equivalent of coming to the Scrap Metal Forum and asking, "where do I find scrap metal"

Admin, have you ever counted how many times that question has been posted here?

Yup, I love repeating what Mechanic said once, "you can lead them to water but you can't make them drink it".

The best thing you can do is point them to the right book and hope they return the favor in the future.

In this specific sense, my answer would be, http://www.scrapmetalforum.com/scrap-metal-spots/

You can give them a book but you cant make them read. Seen some new people on here ask a simple question, get directed to the answer and then help direct others. Also seen a few who come across as experienced ask "is there any money in TV's" or some other simple question. Information is only as valuable as the ability to process it, unfortunately some will not understand unless you draw a map. Some of those needing a map still make great employees or politicians, just not great decision makers.

Give them a fish and they will eat for a day, give them a fishing pole and eat for a lifetime!

Then they'll ask what makes the fish get on the hook. Never take anything for granted.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

Lol, I believe the saying goes more like this:

"Give a man a fish he'll eat for a day, teach a man how to fish he'll eat for a lifetime."

Unfortunately the reality tends to be more along the lines of "give a man a fish he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will expect that you buy him a brand new top of the line pole (with fishing line of course), take over all of the lake so now you can't catch your own fish anymore, then sell you the fish that he got with a 75% mark up on them" I have faith that not everyone is like this though, it would be very sad if they were. Optimist in a Pessimist's clothing.
