    Cant scrap anymore

Well right when i was starting to have business pick up i went on a camping trip with the brother.... We were drinking and i went to the gas station for cigs. Wound up hitting a tree on the way back and couldnt get out of the ditch i was stuck in. The cops showed up and now im in legal trouble. The insurance company is totalling out my truck. All the money from my truck is going to lawyers and fees eventually... Ill be losing my license soon aswell. Now im looking at working at some fast food joint to try to make some money while im still in school. I made a bad decision and am learning young i guess.

So let this be a lesson to you all to not take any risks with your work truck or your license. Because it sucks, and i really miss scrapping. I guess we all live and learn.

I was really down when it first happened, Every time im in a car i want to drive... Im a car guy, i love working on them, speed, everything like your typical gear head and now i cant even work at a shop.... Hopefully I will be able to drive by the spring time.

Now im just dealing with it, waiting for court, and trying to make some money doing what i can.

If you got in an accident while dui, why did you just stay there at the scene till the cops showed up. I would've bailed out of that area immediately and came back for it the next day after i sobered up. just my 2 cents By saying you couldnt get out of the ditch you made it sound like you guys were sitting there for awhile trying to get it back on the road. The cops are always trying to nail us with something, why hand them the ammo to do it.

thats right. ive been there, man. PM me if you want an interesting story. But otherwise, i completely understand how you feel.

Even though it may slow you down and be a huge PITA for a while, dont let it stop you dead in your tracks.

OH Matt!!! Both my partner and myself have been there and done that. It's no fun! Her last DWI was a felony, so it was double hard on us. But we got through it and you will too!

    Hang in there my friend!

for every action there is a reaction and a consiquence, some times good some times bad. sry dude. on a lighter side Ive been scrapping over a year with out liscence car or truck. none of it stopped me. where there is a will there is a way. I havent had a drink since thanksgiving week end 1975. and my drunk bar brawling days ended in the hospital and nearly dead. I had come to an age where 3 at a time was no longer going to work well for me.

the point is I learned from my mistake and moved on. your scrapping knowledge and ability is still a valuable comodity. you may take a pay cut by having to split with a new partner but, a bad day scrapping is still better then the best day working at the local convience store. just my .02

Isn't leaving the scene only a crime if there is damage to property or injury other than yourself or your vehicle?

Not hurt your lucky, drinking and driving is a mistake. Best thing I ever did was stop drinking. Booze makes you do stupid things. 22 years sober and no regrets.

Chance to learn from your mistakes and be a better man because of it. Good job on not running and facing the facts, leaving the scene here in Colorado can get you in deep with the law no matter what the damage.

While your income is reduced you could stop smoking, so you don't need to make any more drunk cig runs. You will need respiratory health when you're walking to work in winter.

Well yeah you can look at it this way. And this whole event has made me rethink the whole drinking thing, because well my life is miserable im pretty much stuck in the house for most everything, Ive lost my income, my freedom, and so far about 4000 bucks and thats before the fines i need to face

Sometimes the best lessons we learn are always the most expensive. Just be glad you didn't hit anyone.
