Maybe an Alternative- Shipping by Bus

Something I have not seen discussed here when shipping multiple boxes. Might be promising. Says there is big savings compared to Fedex an UPS. The shipping time might be a little slower.

Thats how we ship racing go karts. Save quite a bit of cash doing it that way but there has to be someone at the bus terminal to pick it up.

Yeah, I do it all the time. You can go directly to your local Greyhound depot and they'll let you put most things on the bus for less than $20 and even get it there the same day depending on how far you have to ship the stuff.

Anything big and/or heavy that I ship less than 500 miles will get there the same afternoon if not that evening.

It says I can send 3 boxes with a total weight of 200# from Boise to Denver for 136.00. I wonder how that compares to FedEx?

We used to do that to hotshot truck parts. Outgoing you'd go drop it off, incoming you'd go there and pick it up

Yea Greyhound is not to fusy how its wrapped as long as there is a destination tag with a telephone number on it. I've used the service several times only once did they misplace a shipment of 4 packages of embossed tin ceiling tiles going to the same city which resulted in a slight delay.

    Be sure to insure.

accurate fedex quotes are based on cube size, weight, destination and drop off or pick up info fed into the online tool
below is a quote generated for 3 same boxes 12 x 12 x 12 at 65# each declared value $100 each dropped off at fedex agent

    https://www.fedex.com/ratefinder/home

fedex also has LTL freight for skidded loads that i have used and found the prices very reasonable

freonjoe.....I just got confirmation on 310 lbs FedEx from Alabama to Ohio for $160.58 for comparison. That is from someone with an account though.

So..this is run by Greyhound? If so..you can count me out. I've nothing to say nice about Greyhound, nothing, nothing nothing. If this isn't run by GH an just uses their stops then cool..

Either way if it works for ya great. Myself, I'm traumatized by my past experiences with Greyhound still from the last time I took a bus trip. Heh.

If you do ship by bus you need to remember that the other party involved has to go down to the bus station and get it!

An hope it's not one of the 52 that the feds/dot just shut down..heh.

U.S. Transportation Department shuts down 52 unsafe bus companies - CNN.com

Yea I know it's mostly charter/passenger buses but you never know!

Let me quote you on freight. I think I can save everyone money and the more we ship as a community the better discounts we can get. If you would like to test my price you can call me at 814-443-6389 or email me at gorven@comcast.net or PM me here. Oh i am speaking of freight shipments not small package shipments.
