    Drivesence

I enrolled in drivesence from Esurance Esurance
    it's a device that tracks you , Incentive is a discount @ 5%
benefit is as you drive you know your being watched so yeah you drive slower
Yup it appears intrusive - speed - braking - miles - LOCATION - hard braking - sudden accel.

Yeah I welcomed big brother in for 5% savings per 6 months

The question I have is this . The device plugs into the car computer port
the device they say is for my truck only .
Does any one know if the vin numbers are stored on the computer .As it turns out My hope of having
my current scrap truck continue might not prevail turns out it wont pass unless I replace rear springs
exhaust - the rust naturally - and cross member rust . This is gonna be some time & money
so I might end up parting out from one truck to another.

We purchase laptop computers and many components for greater than scrap value. We offer a shipping reimbursement program.replies

If you switch for good, I'd imagine that you could just tell them that you sold the old truck

I'd read on the vehicle requirements. IIRC, VIN reporting wasn't available until OBDII. If that's true, any 1995 or older vehicle can't transmit a VIN, meaning that if esurance supports those vehicles, you should be able to move it without them knowing.

That's all I can help. Out here in Wyoming, I drive 80 miles round trip just to get to my office. A device like this would be a terrible idea!

2001 will support - VIN reporting
from research it seems if you buy a re-manufactured computer ,Vin needs to be set so as to run proper.
If you buy one from a salvage yard it will have that cars Vin yet your car will still run proper . Now if you have a sweet car
like $30,000 & newish, future selling will be an issue for car fax and they will check . But for a 15 year old bondo truck that
I will be last owner repairs of all sorts can be understood. People do replace computers. doors , motors .

    ----------------
As to mileage sure the device keeps track ,but some states keep track at inspection time, that info must be some place .
PA's info , it's in a book at station not sure if it ever goes any place .

They can track you from a credit card or a cell phone . Ever wonder why we have cameras at every intersection ? All paid for with your tax money too . Society now is handing over their rights , we pay to have that credit card or cell phone so essentially your paying them to track you . What I really want to know is how do you feel about your tax money being spent monitoring you instead of fixing the schools or feeding the homeless ?

Make sure you update your Facebook page too so they know who all your friends are and the rest of the information they might need to work for . Might help them decide which fema camp to put you in when the time comes .
