    Found some more school buses..

Got a call from a place a couple days ago... They have 17 or so school buses to dump. Over half still have dot on them! Brand new steers on several good drives on most. Cummins, dt-466, dt-360 for engines. Average weight across the board bout 17k or so. Hope to get em all for under 20 grand. We shall see.....

At that price, you'll do well! The nicer ones can be sold, and if there are any that have been hit by the tinworm, I've seen the engines stuffed in a lot of things out here. People will do anything to get their hands on a Cummins. And, you still have a pretty cool storage shed!

My wife hates the storage shed option haha. Only 3 cummins in the lot. The dt-360s are great motors but low demand. Ie 2500 for a cummins and 1500 at best for a 360. Dt466 are in air brake buses... I'll try to sell those to South America. I Base my bids on worse case outcome. That way I don't burned to badly. I've sat on engines for over a year till I got the right price. I've leaned a lot in last couple yrs cutting these yellow turds up lol.

Hey! I'd be willing to run a short bus for some things. I wouldn't want one of the 40' barges, though (Except as storage). The CDL test scares a lot of people from them. I can't believe that more people don't work with buses- out here in Wyoming, they're kept for 150k miles usually. That's 150k miles on a lot of gravel roads and through snow/mud in the winter. A lot of them are pretty clapped out, but the nicer ones are out there. I'm sure Wisconsin has a more strict inspection program than we do, so they shouldn't be too bad.

Since we don't have rust issues, a lot of people use them for storage. I was at the junkyard last week- they used a 1962 Carpenter/Ford for when they went to indoor garage sales with parts. Now, that's a time capsule!

The tires and engines should cover your bid, but I'm nobody's diesel mechanic

Thats why they toss them here. Rust... If converted to a camper you don't need a Cdl. Hopefully engines alone will cover the purchase. After that profit!!! I'm willing to sit on the bodies for a long time after I break even. Used to get 1300 for a shell and axles.. Now front door price is 45pt at alter metal... Much crap. Was 200pt 6 months ago...

Ouch! We're at $40/Ton, but the cost of living is lower in Wyoming.

There are a lot of people who do the skoolie conversions out here. I couldn't see driving one through Yellowstone, though. Something that long and large seems more like a punishment than a vacation to me.

Some of the Cat engines were used in farm equipment (As was the 5.9 Cummins). You may have a market there....

    Sounds like time for photos

If the wife wants a camper, I think you'll probably have a camper

Do you have a Photobucket account?? Handy if you don't.

Upload to photobucket. I usually reduce the size of my pix to 15% in the folder I have it on machine before uploading to photobucket.

Open your "library" in PB where you have the pix. You should see small versions of all you have there. Each one will have a url at the bottom.

Highlight the url. Right click and it should give you the "copy" option.

    Paste into your SMF post.

    Looking forward to your images!!

You can upload directly to the Forum, but I've never done that. I'd just go through Photobucket, and click on the "Direct" link option. Then, copy that link in after clicking on the little tree photo. We're always glad to help if you're having any issues there!
