aw heck I'm not in cali and i'm interested...
The yard will get slammed with CRT's. I would imagine if they continue, there will be a limt at some point. But thats great, hope it catches on......HOPE
They have some kind of California Electronic Waste Recycling Fee, where people pay extra when buying some electronics. The scrap yard could be taking advantage of these items and getting the deposit back on the items...
That's how I understand it works here in Ontario, but it's not the deposit they get back here, the tax/fee/whatever that people pay for new electronics is used to subsidize the recycling of old electronics (everything from crt to printer to computer tower). The yard I usually go to takes them in whatever state they are in (you can remove the yoke, wiring, etc.), the only other yard I have tried had better prices posted but b!tched up a storm when the realized I had removed the goodies. He started hemming and hawing about how they don't make any money on the tubes, their profits come from gutting them themselves. He still bought the 3 crt I brought in, though, so I called BS on what he said and never went back.
METAL IS MY MISTRESS...PLEASE DON'T TELL MY WIFE!
Heck anything's better then nothing, wish NY had such a program instead of this "EPA is the supreme ruler" bs -.-
Our town is flooded at the free drop off point. Imagine paying for them....
All we need to do is load these in a mail truck, and cross state lines, right?
