I hate it when you have to wait a long time to unload in scrap yards.

Sometimes they're busy. Sometimes there's a labor intensibe task going on. Sometimes the slowest employee is on the scale. Sometimes I have to go during the busiest time of day. Always bring a book to read with me in case there's a long line. I don't really sweat it though it's sometimes an inconvenience.
If i have to wait i read this forum.....check emails.....make phone calls.....if u have smart phone it can be productive networking making contacts etc while waiting

Trying to avoid busy times and when there is a time crunch in my schedule is the best I can do. I have my cell phone and my computer with me to put the time to good business use. When I am waiting I will tour the yard looking for things I can use for scrap art and other projects or clean my truck which could always use it. My best advice is to plan on a delay and have a plan to kill the time before you go to the yard.
Give back more to this world than we take.
I would use that time to unstrap and organize the truck if possible. that way the guy behind me isn't waiting on me like that. If I was at a yard where there was only one guy unloading by hand in a single lane yard i would also ask if he needs help unloading to maybe speed things up. but sometimes you just gotta roll with it.
