Lots of businesses end their fiscal years on June 30th. Many will close to take inventory and scrap items they no longer want to count as inventory. Lots of stuff goes into trash dumpsters around this time. Be sure to check businesses in your areas for their annual discards. Note that September 30th and December 31st are also important days.
The fiscal YE for the federal government, by the way, is September 30th.
