    rewire intro

my name is sean, I own Shea Re-Wire Inc. located in lake county Ill. I started my recycling company in 2009. I am a union carpenter, as well as owner of a small recycling company specializing in copper, but also buying other non ferrous metals. I've been stripping copper since I was 7. Old man is an electrician, so stripping wire growing up was a chore/punishment. Now a small business spawning from friends/associates word of mouth. The economy pushed me to venture into business, residential carpentry dryed up in 2007. Got into heavy highway(bridges) in 08, but getting laid off for winter made me think outside the box. Did tons of research, established some material suppliers, made business plan and got small loan. Purchased granulator early 2010 and that sums it up to be blunt. Working at oak creek power plant in wisconsin 60 hours a week and then buying/processing material. hope to give and get as much as I can from this website.

Welcome to the forum. I am very interested in the granulator you purchased. I am currently considering buying one of the larger wire stripers. I won't be in the market for a granulator for a long time I think. There are lots of posts about all kinds of salvaging take advantage of the experience, Mike.

I recommend a rigbee(may be mispelled?) It's a four screw stripper, and will strip armored cable consistently. I was tight on money at time bought amazon special that I regret. My buyer has two of them. thanks for the welcoming.

Welcome! Interested in hearing about your granulator too.

Do you sell to another larger yard, or were you able to hook up with a broker/end user?

My buyer has contracts with different smelters, and almost all of the material stays in the U.S.A. I deal directly with the owner who has enabled me to grow in a short period of time.
