Issues with the New Post button

Is it just my computer or do other people have the same problem?

When I click the New Post button It sends me to a yahoo search page:

Page not found Yahoo Error Handler

Admin help please. Not sure if its the forum or operator error.

I don't see any reason why or how the forum could be doing that. Not sure what could be causing this on your end.

If anybody else has this issue feel free to chime in.

Wish I could help. In the past when I had problems on this site it was a result of the browser being used. When a new browser was used the problem disappeared. It might be worth a chance.

My first thought was that it was operator error... Thats why it took me a week to mention anything. I thought i'd figure it out, Or it would fix itself. But I haven't seen any conversations for the last week. I Need some help, cant figure it out.

I haven't done anything different, so im not sure If there is anything I can do to fix it.

I'ts frustrating, I cant see what anyone is talking about right now, unless I look through all the forums........

Someone smarter than me needs to help

    Try it from another computer.
    I'll bet it works OK
Then you should do a complete virus & malware scan
Download & use Malwarebytes & Superantispyware
Remove all unnecessary toolbars using your Add/Remove programs in the control panel
If that doesn't help. call your local PC nerd to assist you

Just to expand a little bit on this and hope it helps you.

It sounds to me like you have what's called adware on your computer. Or something similar. You often get this when you download something and don't notice that other programs are included in the installation package or download. That's why a virus scan might not catch this. You need to disable and uninstall the programs that are causing you grief.

You can see a list of programs installed on your computer by using the Windows uninstall utility. Just click the start button and type "uninstall" in the search box and it will bring up a list for you. Click on "Uninstall a program." The utility should start and you can see a list of programs that are installed on your computer. You can then uninstall programs that you don't need. If you are not sure of what to delete and what to keep, then find someone to help you out. Or start searching to see if any of those programs might be adware and get rid of them. Don't delete anything if you aren't sure what it is. Google it. Ask someone.

Start with that and report back what you have found.

Ok I know this is silly but instead of clicking New Posts, have you tried clicking What's new?

Other then that, try Spin's suggestion if you can. He's the computer wiz, I know just enough to keep my running ok.

Hey wait..that's my line..the insomnia part.

Just giving you a hard time there PJ.

I use windows an there are certainly times I want to beat it with a BFH. I think I'd feel the same with an Apple OS, maybe not with Linux.

If I click "whats New" It goes here also: Page not found Yahoo Error Handler

It works fine from my phone. I don't have access to another computer, but I imagine it would work fine. Ill try a virus scan

Oddly, I have never even seen a New Posts button until now. I've been using the What's New. What's the difference?

I had to go up and look for one to see what you guys were talking about and now I see that they are right next to each other. That just shows how unlikely I am to explore and try new things. Now I'm hovering the cursor over it and can't bring myself to click!! What if it is much better than the other one? What if it takes to the same Yahoo page with Parker and then somehow know something is dreadfully wrong with my computer? What if???

Ok, I'm not clicking it and I'm going to go plant cotton now. See you guys later.

    LOL. This cracked me up.

I took the plunge and clicked it myself...
Nothing crazy happened and my computer did not explode, just brought me to where it's supposed to bring me, no Yahoo page.

Anyway, considering this is an isolated issue to only one user I'm 100% confident that the problem is not a forum specific issue. (Although adware/spyware could seemingly effect only certain sites/features that you use in your browser) Billygoat is most likely right, adware/spyware can do some very strange and unusual things.

    I recommend the following.

1 - Clear your browser cookies, browser cache, and search history.

2 - Download Malwarebytes (free version is fine). Best freeware piece of antivirus/spyware/adware software there is. Then run it.

3 - THEN download and run superantispyware.

NOTE - Make sure to do it in that order... Malwarebytes first.

4 - Restart your system. (Physically shut down your computer or laptop and start it up again.)

5 - Run Malwarebytes one more time (sometimes it doesn't catch everything until a second run after a full restart.)

That should do it... But if it does not, certainly post here afterwards and someone will most likely help you identify whatever is causing these annoyances for you.

It's just a yahoo search engine result. Its saying that the code, that is supposed to send me to "whats new," is spelled wrong. It is yahoo search engine giving me other suggestions cause it thinks I spelt it wrong.

This is what it says at the top of the yahoo page:
The requested URL "http://www.scrapmetalforum.com/search.php?hsimp=yhse-001" cannot be found or is not available. Please check the spelling or try again later.

Then below that it gives me search suggestions that are related to scrap metal forum.

Hope this helps someone help me.
