This might be a little intensive, but I think it would cut down on a lot of the repetitive questions. In the Dismantling, Breaking Down, etc. sub-forum maybe sections for the major items. I know there's a sticky for computer parts, but maybe a sub-forum all its own.
For CRT TVs/monitors it would include the following type of information.
(1)Warnings: Discharge the CRT. Don't break the glass.
(2) Salvageable components: Copper windings around the yoke, the degaussing cable and the power cord. Ferrite things the copper is wrapped around. Stainless steel clips. Low grade circuit board with big aluminum heatsinks and IC chips. Two or more speakers with magnets. Flyback transformer.
(3) Specific identification and average values: 1 pound of #2 copper, 0.25 pounds of ferrite/shred steel, 0.10 pounds of extruded aluminum, 0.10 ounces of IC chips, 1.50 pounds of CBM for the various transformers and the bigger flyback transformer on the low-grade board, 0.50 pounds of low-grade board after the big copper and aluminum components are taken off (along with the bigger IC chips). I have no idea if these values are even close to accurate. I haven't done enough of them. They're there for illustrative purposes only.
Separate ones for microwaves, fridges, washers, dryers, heck, even cars for that matter. Users could add their tips and tricks for maximizing value.
