Hi all! Been browsing this forum for a few months and finally signed up.
So my question revolves around boards/components from car radios, predominately aftermarket.
All my search queries turn up CD drives from computers and radios not from cars.
Are the boards and such in these units worth anything?
I get them all from my employer. Our only offer from
e-scrap places in the state topped out at a whopping $.012/lb... yes that's 1.2 pennies.
We do nothing with these, they have no resale value for us.
I don't care about tear down time, I'm trying to kick the habit of my username... which is work drink sleep... occasionally fish, which includes more drinking.
So if the boards and scrap are worth anything I have about 300+ car radios I can take home and pull apart.
Then I save money and make money. A double return!
I took some time to half pull one apart because I have limited tools at my desk. Forgive me if I bork the photos.

**Again
Someone remind me to never ever do this at work again ... what a headache
1. Underside of optical drive where board is + connection ribbon
2. Display panel and control board
3. Various shots of mainboard
4. Small board on side (cover turned out to be soldered in)
5. Non-magnetic heatsink (I'm assuming it's a heatsink, on other radios it has fins). These vary by finish. Some look like cast (this one) others look milled/cnc'd (shiny finish)
