    store bought wire stripper?

I was wondering if anyone has found a good wire stripper from someplace like lowes or homedepot. I haven't seen what I'm looking for on their website but didn't know if they had something in the store some where that someone has found. yes i will be visiting the stores and looking for myself just thought I'd check here first. also where would be a good place to buy a stripper from? for wire that is

You're right. Go look at it in the store. Come on back and let us know how it worked. Maybe we can start a tool thread.

    Or maybe something else.

I have been thinking about that one myself...If it works okay 65.00 sounds reasonable.

That is basically the stripper that I bought and I love it. It's a little tricky at first, but once you figure it out it will save a ton of time. I made my money back after about 10 days. Just make sure you mount it properly or your braided wire will get very messy.

I agree with holedigger about it being a tad tricky to get used to. I bought the "older" version on the left of the e-bay link that Mechanic posted and it works very well. With some practice I have successfully stripped 14/16 ga, but only when I have nothing else to do

Google "home made wire strippers" and check all of the different ones that people have made on you tube. If your handy with your hands and tools then make yourself one to get you started. Then you can use the money you made to buy a good one, or maybe what you build will do a great job.

What do you scrap that you can't find wire to strip?????????????????

My hesitation is I want something that does okay on braided wire and just haven't pulled the trigger.
