the trailer was the best thing i have bought so far! as for the truck much better pulling over my ram 1500 did. last load i did when i hauled a 93 blazer to the scrap yard the 1500 with the 5.9 gas engine was begging for mercy. between the 4,300# on the trailer and the hills. i did a test run with the dodge v10 with my dads car on the trailer to put a small load on the trailer for testing. drove it on the local back roads out here in the country and it did lot better then my 1/2 ton truck did. my 1/2 ton was getting overloaded so time to upgrade to a 3/4 ton truck. might put a better throttle body, cold air intake kit, programmer and maybe a shift kit on it after i can get the trailer wiring fixed. getting pissed at the trailer wiring! about ready to just rip it out and put a new trailer wiring harness in its place. the problem i'm having is i have turn signals and brakes. but no trailer brakes! my brake controller keeps saying no trailer connection?? even when the trailer is plugged into the truck??? last owner did a hack job on the trailer wiring!!!!! someone cut off the plug in under the dash when all they had to do is plug in the extention wire on the factory tow option. and plug is also damaged looks like it broke and last owner just let it flap in the wind so its damaged back there as well. so no money is being made till i get the trailer wiring fixed! may take it into the dodge dealer and have them fix it if i can't get it figured out as last resort.

fially got my trailer wiring fixed on my ram 2500 4x4 V10 at the dealership! so now i can hook up to my trailer and haul loads safely.
and while i was there had them power flush the radiator and heater core. so the heater works lot better now. now its time to put some junk cars on the trailer have a repair bill to pay off lol

My current truck is a 2011 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 with the Cummins diesel and 6-speed stick. Very basic "work truck- regular cab, crank windows and not much snazzy stuff. I did get carpeted floors and a cloth seat (I despise vinyl or leather seats- hot in the summer, freezing in the winter). It has the appearance package with chrome bumpers, fake chrome wheel covers and cab clearance lights, so it's a good-looking rig for being a "base" truck.

This is the first brand-new truck I ever bought, and I plan to keep it for a very long time. I had wanted a diesel Ram since I was 15, and finally got one at 30. I had plenty of gas Dodges before, and they were all great trucks. Let's see... My first was a 73 D100 2wd, then a 79 W150 Power Wagon, 67 W200 Power Wagon, 85 Ram W250 and an 88 Ram W250. I wish I still had the 67 Power Wagon, that thing was a BEAST. It was a former municipal road crew truck with a factory snow plow. Geared really low, top speed was about 50 MPH.

I just got a "new" truck too! This past November I traded in my Grand Cherokee on a 2011 Ram 1500 Crew Cab 4x4 with the Hemi! I don't even know that trailer's back there anymore, and it's great having the box to toss stuff into on trash days. I hope to have it for many, many years.

It is time to bite the bullet. The 14 yr. old Ford F-350 diesel has 250,000 miles on it and is going out to pasture, scrapping only. Wife has a Chevy and now I am looking for a new-to-me Dodge. My first truck was an International Harvester. I can not make up my mind and this drives the wife crazy. I also keep telling her this is the last one I will ever need to buy in my life. She questions this and I just tell her I can't help it if I lived this long. Pisses her off. Love it. New truck is on the horizon. Good Day.

I don't regret my purchase of the 2004 Dodge SLT Heavy Duty 4x4 5.7 Hemi. I thought my GMC 6.0 was a little snappier but I now think it is a matter of learning how to drive the Dodge, it's habits and the feel. It sure hangs onto the road; I'll say that. I'm bidding on a bigger trailer now but gotta live a little longer (like you, Patriot) to make this all work. . . . and I'm supposed to be retired. Havin' too much fun I guess.

Theres deals out there on goosenecks. I looked for atleast a year for the right deal. My ramps are spring loaded. I need to add a third ramp in between the two because we have a lot of narrow front tractors I want to take to pulls/shows. The market for trailers like these has spiked up a lot within the last few years. New ones would take a while to pay off anyway.

I'm in the process of helping my friend put together my 1994 shortbed F150 with a straight 6 and standard. I bought it with "some assembly required." For some reason they pulled the engine 1/2 way out to do the clutch, and gave in when the slave blew as they were bolting it together. I bougth it for $500 and had to have it towed home. I have about $1,200 into it total and I think its almost done.

When I bought it, it had new starter, new alternator, new water pump, new power steering pump, new radiator, new clutch, new motor mounts, and new serpentine belt. The engine is also out of a newer vehicle. The tires are Goodyear wranglers with 3/4 tread.

I put into it smog pump, oil pan, egr, intake gasket, clutch slave, clutch master, clutch tube, a few bolts that were lost before I bought it, and a battery from the junk yard lol.

    Your truck?

The Ford straight six is a solid motor, not too much on power, but reliable. No interest in a short bed though...

The price was right. At some point it will probably become a stake rack.

My friend is a Ford guy, and he says the straight six can pull a lot, just not very fast.

I forgot to mention, when he took the oil pan off, the inside of the engine was spotless.

    Also its lockout 4x4
