It depend on what I am doing. The thinner cutoff discs can be faster, and easier to use on smaller material (like 1/4" round rod) but also are consumed faster. The slightly thicker cutoff wheels last a lot longer. Just be careful to not confuse the grinding wheels for the slightly thicker cutoff wheels.
Also, be very careful with an angle grinder. I'm not going to tell you to keep all the guards in place, because that is a choice that you have to make for yourself, but an angle grinder can get away from you in a heart beat. Maybe it will just wrap itself up in your shirt, or maybe you'll have cool scars from it. It is like any other tool, dangerous in the hands of the inattentive or fools.
