I have had 500 bucks squirreled away for some time now to get me a trailer for hauling this load of steel to the yard that is growing next to my house. Only thing is, any trailer for that price or less would in no way handle a load over 500 pounds or so. If I did find a decent one at $500, it was gone in an instant.
Then it happened. See, normally when I type in trailer in the Craig's list search I get hundreds of posts. This time I only got a small hand full per day on posts. I looked and I had typed trailor rather than trailer. There was my trailer. $300 4 x 8 with a drop gate and 2 foot walls. Much better than all of the ones I see with 10" walls. It shows it's age, but some paint, a new(used) tire, and a sheet of plywood for a new floor and I will have a good trailer for under $400 total.
I was talking to the guy and he is a scrapper. There was an almost new double baby stroller that he had there and he said he was scrapping it. I told him he could probably get more on Craig's list than that for it. He said he has had no luck with Craig's list as he has had that trailer up for sale for weeks and I was the first to ever call on it.
After I had paid him, and hooked the trailer up, I told him why no one called him(because no one saw the add because of the spelling). He banged his palm against his forehead and thanked me.
So, I finally have a trailer. Lights work, and I will soon be hauling steel and making my side yard look much nicer. I will also be able to store my steel on the trailer rather than pile it in the yard, and when it is full I will haul it in.
