I have a scale in both my trucks and in my office. I am never far from a scale.
I didn't originally buy it for scrap, but it will be used quite a bit once I start sorting through my stuff and getting it ready to haul in. Got it off eBay. It's a 150 lb Pelouze with a remote readout that can be hung on a wall.
I have a bathroom scale in the truck and doctor's scale in the garage.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.
Got a fish scale about a month ago. Digital. 88lb max. 10 bucks after shipping from Amazon. By saving me from losing partial pounds on non-ferrous it's pretty much already paid for itself. Good investment.
Eat. Sleep. Scrap.
Im waiting for my scale to arrive from ebay. I got a 310 lb shipping digital floor scale for 15 bucks. My little 1Kg scale i use for gold and silver dont cut it for copper scrappin
I heard the before the only stupid question is the one that you dont ask! Thanks to all you guys for the imput! I have begun my search for a scale because I dont have one!!!!!
I use a digital bathroom scale to weigh material in 5 gallon buckets that get dumped into bigger tubs. Last big loads I sold there may have 6# difference between my weight and the yard.
I hava a big Toledo stand up, left over from my Midway days, but it needs some work.
Here's the one we bought, 75lb with battery/ac adapter, hold and a remote head for large boxes. $39. shipped.
They have a full line of scales on ebay,

I have a crappy 12Kg spring scale, it works wonders, paid for itself first time I used it!
Its needs adjusting all of the time but thats easy, little button knob on its top, fits in my pocket or toolbag.
I have a few 'setting weights' I use to compare its accuracy but find it to within 100gms in a pinch, so I keep the 'above the Kg' surplus to about 200gm to 300gm.
To weigh more than 12Kg?
Put the metal in a sack, hook the scales on one side of the top of the sack, grab the other sidecorner in my fingers & lift it up level, check the display & double it!
I'm impressed with the new digital hanging scales, cheap & accurate, no arguments there.
