Dash cam system being tested - low cost

This is something I have been thinking and slowly working on.

Right now I think I have found the set up I am going to use that is both low cost but high power.

I am doing some more testing on this system and once I have that done I will report back here on my findings.

But I think anyone who is driving as much as we do..and or "scrapping" having a dash cam and or a cam we can have recording us at all times will not only be good for when we are driving but when we are picking stuff up. It will give proof of where we picked it up at and how we where just "driving" around when we saw it.

On another note if any damage was found before during or after you where at someones place (home or company) you will have video showing that one..the damage was there before hand or two the damage was NOT there when you left an there for it happened after you where gone. Its very hard to disregard a video tape in many ways.

Long story short. I am "jumping" the gun on what I have been working on so you all can start thinking about it. Once I worked out the whole system I will post here again...and on my YouTube page on this system. So anyone who has subed my page will get the info once it hits there.

P.s if you are using a video system in your truck, suv, car or space ship. Share the info and your setup. I am sure I am not the only one who has been working on this.

Currently using one on my spaceship. 100 camera's in total. Good for those sneak asteroid attacks, star court is a pain!

Also to stay on topic. Since your truck probably isn't always facing the area your working and can't come inside of you. You might want to consider a person mounted camera. Perhaps some thing like a button camera. Something inconspicuous, but effective in preventing you being held liable for any damages that were already inside someones home or on there property.

Ok that plan failed...have to work on another idea....my idea was using a webcam and building a stand that I can mount it into my truck....the issue is....making a stand that will hold it still to get clean video on.

But I am going to mess with this some more but kinda have to put it onto the back burner once again....another of my projects is now done and fully working...time to use the hell out of that to turn a profit on it...I have over 2grand invested on that deal lol...about time I am done tossing money on it and it starts MAKING money.

I would brake it in about 2hours....from smashing it and sweating on top of it.

When I am working around a job site when I go there to take a look at it when I am bidding on the job...I take alot of photos of every part...when I am working on the clean out/haul out..I take photos when work is being done (before and after) and when the job is all done...I take photos again.

This covers your butt...but at the same time will show your client your/companies hard work. Sometimes your clients before and after (some times it looks like you did nothing when in fact you had.)

I just want it for when I am driving...trust me....Dallas drivers are BAD..every day we have a car fire...one to 5 deadly car accident every month some car that parked inside some building....its fun to have the radio on in the morning to know what %#*$ crap happened...an why you are sitting still on the highway.

I was thinking you ment a camera dome setup, like a vertical camera with a dome lens on it so it works in a 360 degree field.

Thats all you would need for evidence, even mentioning it would shut someone up too.

This is an easy concept, if I had the money to blow on electronics and the time I would do it. Just get a motion sensor camera with onboard DVR. As long as you're moving you're being recorded, and it records it's own footage. Run it off an inverter and you're done. I mean props for wanting your own set-up.

Get a motorized turn table, add an IR sensor to it, mount a web cam to the turn table, stick on a laser pointer for guidance, get a keychain remote, and then you have a 360 degree laser guided remote controlled camera.

There's a few ways of doing this low budget, but I'd got with the motion sensor camera with DVR. Saw one awhile back for 165 on ebay.

As you are talking about dash cam testation then i am here to suggest you best webcam cover to buy at very low and reasonable prices from an online store because it will save your time and allow you to buy this product at very lowest cost , So buy this product and thanks me later. Dashcam is something I am looking as well, but not just for finding goodies on the curb. I also thought to some DYI solutions, but none were good enough. Remember that dashcams are made to record on the long time and less than perfect road/weather condition. Just using an old cell phone and a static stand would not be a good idea, because they're not made for recording hour long videos. Not sure that I would use a webcam or something made for indoor use on a dashboard by a hot sunny day or when it is below freezing point.

Good point. GoPro is something I like, but their models are quite costly to what I saw the last time I had a look. I need to check them again if they have something cheaper.

After something like three years, I kicked myself in the **** and I just bought a Garmin dash cam. Instructions included in the box are useless and it was hard to detect and pair it with my cellphone via a proprietary app, but it works now. Just now sure how to get a full trip in one file instead of multiple segments. Be prepared to see new videos on YT.
