Can anyone tell me if the air chisel is the best tool to punch a hole in the oil pan (trans and engine) of junk cars before the crushing.
Have anyone tried this?
Does it work?
What kind of chisel?
thanks
Rest assured that the oils are recycled!i

An air chisel would definitely do it. A straight, narrow punch type bit would work best but the wide bit would work too. An old fashioned claw hammer and a punch would do the trick too and cost less.
Oooooooo........I haven't air chiseled one of these yet *wuvs*
Thanks: air chisel cost irrelevant. We have a compressor running all the time with impact wrench for the weels and air sawzall for the catalytic.
Re: old fashion hammer and punch. Not as easy as it looks, the oil pans are made of rather thick steel so they don't get easily punctured by debris or rocks on the road or off-road.
Thanks again
ferrailleur....look what you have done....you have given attitude another suggestion of how to get in trouble with that air chisel of hers !!! lol
I use a drill and bit.
Why not just use the drain plug that's already there?
an air chisel would be the fastest route. i would use a bit like the two on the right in the following link.
