Tools of the Trade

hello this question is from a young scrapper wondering, what is the best tool you have? what is most useful? what do you find yourself reaching for constantly? thanks! happy scrappin

Magnet and drill for me, my son bought me a drill for Mothers day and it already looks like its 10 years old! lol.

what i use most often is. sawzall, grinder, mallet, i would use my torch but my acetelene regulator is busted and it costs $70 to rebuild.

My Jet torch is my one and only tool.

thanks guys! i have 3 drills 2 sledghammers, a screwdriver set, a bunch of hammers, a leatherman, oh and a hatchet. dont have any good magnets yet. cant seem to find any.

Magnet, utility knife, sawzal, BFH

A pair of greenlee wire cutters will help at times to. I have a pair and use them allot but its mainly to cut large amounts of wire. It does have a nick taken out of it though I cut into some live wire lol. Just goes to show you those little 20 dollar pens that light up when you get live electricity will avoid that all together. I think a pair of them runs about 125 to 150 a pair. You can resharpen them yourself when they get dull. The only problem you will ever have with them is really replacing the bolt that hold its together. Always keep a few spares around if you are really working them allot eventually to much stress will snap it. The bolt will also need re tightened all the time or the wire will slip between the cutting jaws. I would also invest in a smaller hand pair of wire cutters to.

You can get 2 free magnets out of the next microwave you scrap. I like my sawsall and cordless drill. Also my bit set for taking apart all them different types of screws.

thanks but 1i cant find any magnets and 2 i dont have any mocrowaves to take apart, also how do u have a signature at the bottom

Then next time you scrap a tv or speaker take the magnet from them. Computer hard drives have a nice strong magnet too.

thanks i got some out of a hardrive but they shattered. ive read that thread it gives alot of good info thanks. and the magnet i got out of a speaker sucks

There's actually a tiny bit of copper in speakers to underneath the tweeter. I found this out when I was being a pyro and lit one on fire just for fun, and a little copper ring fell out.
